I was hired by a team director to help unleash a top performer’s leadership potential. This was an exceptional individual contributor but they just couldn’t get past the “gap” to fully embrace their role as a leader. They frequently hesitated in decision-making and implementing new processes. They sought ongoing input from their director. This took a lot of time. Time from their productivity, the productivity of the people they were leading and strategy time away from their director.
After they spoke with their director, I collaborated with them to create focused goals for our coaching engagement. We took a step-by-step confidential approach to uncover what was inhibiting them from making independent decisions and embracing the leadership role their director knew they could embody. We addressed what may be holding them back professionally, personally, and organizationally. Each session they would walk away with small steps they could take to overcome these challenges.
During our leadership coaching engagement, they demonstrated a strong commitment to growth. They engaged in self-reflection and navigated through challenging conversations and situations to help create change and understanding. Along the way, they expressed relief and amazement at their progress, the support they felt from their director, and took pride in their efforts.

This process took only eight coaching sessions.
